The Scooped Spatula has a Black Maire scoop and a handle (feature from Tawa) crafted from timber from the river bed of the Norther Wairoa River. Black Maire is one of New Zealand’s hardest timbers and used the by the early Maori for cultivation tools and weaponry.
Each piece is unique and handcrafted from ancient New Zealand native timbers salvaged from rivers and forests. They are designed not only to be functional but to also be displayed and handed down as treasured possessions each with its own history and story.
Hand made sculptor-chef, Tom Muir.Suited to everyday cooking as well as treasured possessions with history to be passed down. The handles are designed to fit comfortably in your hand and they look beautiful displayed in your kitchen (don’t hide them away in drawers).
Only sustainably sourced New Zealand native timbers are used.
Do not put utensils in the dishwasher. Warm hand wash only please.
